                  ADOLESCENCE

A.—A is for Amy who has just turned thirteen,
A teenager at last, now tries out nicotine,
D—D is for Dolly, and now puberty strikes
With a mind of her own with so many dislikes.

O—O is for Oswald, most obnoxious at best,
Bone tired and quite lazy, just likes to rest,
L—L is for Lucy, always unlucky in love,
Her boyfriend’s says bye and gives her the shove.

E---E is for Edward, a motor bike’s on his list,
Out late every night & comes home quite p----d
S---S is for sorry, a word unknown by most teens,
Who are forever requesting a new pair of jeans.

C---C is for Catherine, always misunderstood,
Can’t boil cold water but would if she could,
E---E is for Earnest, his face covered in fuzz,
When first shave is over it gives him a buzz.

N---N is for Neville, his pimples quite a worry,
When he goes out, is the only time that he’ll     hurry,
C---C is for Carol, much worried by her weight
But won’t listen to Mum and misses out on a date.

E---E is for everyone that goes through  adolescence
But few there are now that show any slight  innocence,
It’s a tough time for us all as they so easily offend
But they usually come through all right in the end.

I guess you've been around a few teenagers lately LP. They will try your soul but if you can hang in there long enough they become civilized human beings at some point.
Though it does seem to take a bit longer these days.

Oh, the "A" word! ~ and you did a fine job of telling it like it is! ~ and was! lol

With my youngest, I had to dig my spurs in and hang on for the ride of my life! Harrowing to say the least! Mind you, I'm so pleased that I didn't throw in the towel! She has turned out to be an outstanding young woman ~ amd we're the best of friends!

Love your poem! Love you!

Dear Lindsay, you got that right!! You could have gone on and on and find still more and more characteristics of the adolescents.

A demanding time for parents and for them too, no doubt.

Significant write, that surely will help some to realize that they are not alone in facing those problems!

Enjoyed this greatly.

love

A very sincere thanks to all you kind folks, Alison, Ida, Krysti, Rick, Linda,

Arctic Wind and Margherita, it seems that most of you have been down that path, rocky

though it might be. I'm certainly glad I'm not trying to raise teenagers today. A big hug and love to you all.
