Mist

Listening to love songs,
aching for one to love this night.
But flowers still grow in the moonlight
and life goes on.

The window gets misted; the fog rolls in.
and I wonder when will it lift
      and the clearness of day
settle upon the earth and me?

So for now, I watch
and learn, and hope, and yearn,
and know that there are flowers beyond the mist
and life goes on.

I can feel the longing in every word....

We have to keep believing that love is just around the corner.....some times though ....it´s a long, sweeping bend!

Beautiful, Debby.  If we can turn pain into good poetry, it has served at least one purpose.

Years ago, I used to drive to Pietermaritzburg (about 90 kilometres ±50 miles), once a week in the evening to go to Scottish Country Dancing.  On the way back there was often mist on the road.  I loved the feeling of being encapsulated in the mist in my car (the car I had then was Vernon, the Volkswagen Variant) and no deadline to get home by - the babysitter got paid more the longer she was there - and "the peace that came dropping slow" à la WB Yeats.  I could drive as slowly as the mist required and sing or recite poetry and nobody could see or hear me while I was wrapped in this silent white protective blanket.

Every line was a gem from your pen! Truly!

I loved it! I could picture it! I could feel it !

~ and yes, "flowers still grow in the moonlight
and life goes on."

Lovely writing!

Smile! Your own future love song awaits!

Written with such a tender ache.
This is lovely in it's sadness.
