I'm Being Manipulated.

My eyes are piercing through the fibers
of my hands, my cruel dirty hands
for I have been manipulated to believe
that they are covered in sin
and I will be condemed to hell.

My parents overbear me
with an extreme praise for God
expecting me to jump right in
and believe what they want me to believe in
without a seconds hesitation.

Telling me, ''You will go to hell''
well, they must be some sort of magician
to actually know what the ultimate creator's judgement
will be on my behalf.

In all seriousness
they need to stop forcing me to drink
the gallons of Holy Water.

All I want to do
is savor the droplets
take it in slowly, easily, steadily
while they're drinking it gallon
upon gallon.

Sooner or later
the taste will become bland to them
while I'm savoring every last droplet
I can take.

Well, not that my opinion matters, but I think you're doing okay.

Awareness is the first step of individuation and living authentically.

Loved the thought put into this, and you've left me pretty confident that you're up to coming to your own conclusions.

You have taken the first brave step.......questioned your parents .....I do not advocate questioning them for questioning sake ...just that religion is personal and it should be your beliefs that count .....that coming from a devout athiest may sound trite ...but I think it´s true we each have our own beliefs and should follow them.
