Forever This Heart Shall Sing
by Linda L. Dowd

Winds wail and rage through the underbrush
of my fallen dreams. Dark clouds are slung low
and threatening as shadows linger where the sun
once shone. Raindrops that fall
from a brooding sky,
are the tears that I cry.
In these closing days
of yet another year gone by
since our parting,
I am flooded with warm memories.
Grain by grain the sands of time
are slowly slipping away
and I continue
to miss you so.

All alone am I, yet I remember
the warmth of your loving arms
wrapped around me in gentler times.
As I gaze out to an endless sea,
remembering,
I quiver at the thought of you
and your once proffered hand that touched
my heart with roses red. With you,
I shared my essence of sea, sky and sod
~ and that of my lotus blossom breeze
wafting on a balmy summer’s eve.

In moments of quietude,
in the dawning light of the darkest night,
please wait not for a moment of inspire.
Awaken to a morning full of promise
and gather rainbows in a bottle.
Sweeten my life as does the perfume
of morning’s first rose
~ for you are my everything.

Tiptoe through the garden of my heart
as we listen to wind lullabies
and wander wild woods until break of day.
Be still, my love, and touch me tender
in that secret place.

In mid of night, there came a tapping
at my window as long shadows slid
across the room.
I was touched by silvery beams
from Mother Moon and slipped
into a pool of reverie
and silken silence…

On rising this spring morning,
with the rays of sun shining
down upon me,I feel as tho’ I could
climb a mountain high.
There is joy in knowing
that I am a part of the ebb and flow of life.
Lilacs lay in gay profusion before me
as I awake in midst of a dream
~ to a world of wonder that lay before me.
Love is all around me! Love is in the air!
~ In the hushed silence,
there is music in a babbling brook
as I behold the dew that glistens
in the break of day.

I blow with the breeze
across meadows of clover
~ unencumbered and free.
I swim with the dolphins,
sing with the meadowlarks,
and fly across cerulean skies
with the eagles
~ for I am a Light Spirit.

In the deepest hour of night time sleep,
I awoke to my paradise found.
In the gloaming of the bonnie brae
with the warm kiss of sun upon my skin,
for I have finally found my way home
~ to the home where I belong.

If love was ever to find me again,
I would welcome it with open arms.
For time has a way of mending the wounds
of a broken heart.

I raise my eyes to the heavenly skies,
~ knowing not what the morrows may bring,
but on dreams I will swing
~ from a crescent moon,
and forever this heart shall sing.

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Yo Linda,

This is very nice work.  It brought to mind Poe's "The Raven".

Good morning, REJ. This poem is actually a compilation of lines and titles that I have strung together from my previous poems.

Perhaps you might have recognized a couple of them. I may do this again with another theme in mind. It was fun to do!

sensational imagery...my favorite part:

"I was touched by silvery beams
from Mother Moon and slipped
into a pool of reverie
and silken silence…" ...sounds like the place to be...

Amazing that you could make a composite like this. I guess because you are so consistant in thoughts of love. It reads flowingly and your tender voice compments it. best to you,"late"

EA,

Like usual your poem is impecably exquisite and for a compilation of poem titles/lines absolutely brilliant and perfectly timed.
You are a talented wordsmith for sure.

*sidenote* Your voice is so peaceful and serene, very comforting, I daresay, for moments of disquietude.

Ahh, dear Linda Angelo Terrestre, your heart sings beautifully. The quoted part, as every other part actually, can stand alone and bring deep pleasure when we surrender to its magical flow of energy of love.

Magical atmospheres that deserve to be absorbed deeply.

Love and hugs.

I am especially fond of

'underbrush
of … dreams.';

And 'crescent moon swinging'!

this 'penning' is a fine longing remembrance of, and
tribute to, the healing powers of time, nature, and love

Ah yes...that ‘gloaming of the bonnie brae’

applause!
