Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

I miss you at funny times
with a longing to share a smile,
or a dream that flits quickly.
It’s a heart thing
and not be gone soon thing.
I miss you forever.

Wouldn’t it be nice to write
all that really is inside,
all the confusion,
and all the questions, senseless,
knowing that there will be answers.

It would be nice
but it doesn’t work that way.
All I have is self-indulgent poetry
and thoughts of you,
laced with painful knowledge
that the missing will go on
and on.

And on ‘til tomorrow and beyond.

Alison

Oh Alison, such beautiful wise words.

I share your pain. I don't think we ever stop missing but we do get to a stage where we can smile with them in our thoughts.

I commiserate with you Alison.  It is a very painful thing to miss someone.

I feel privileged to be invited into your thoughts.

Yes, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could verbalise all our thoughts and our internal turmoils.  I personally believe very strongly that the world would be far healthier - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually - if we could do that.

Just one little thing.  If I am offending, please disregard this paragraph.  The line,

soon not to be gone thing

would be more correct and easier to follow if you said

not to be gone soon thing.

Owl,

Wow.  I really appreciate how much you understood this.  Also, I agree with your suggestion and thank you for taking a chance to make it.  No offense taken, just a happiness that you shared your opinion.

Alison, thank goodness you DO have the gift of poetry so that you are able to express your feelings of missing him. Keep emoting. They say time is a healer. Mind you, it can be pretty darn slow at it when you are in the throes of angst and despair.

Love and healing hugs,

When we are missing someone, our thoughts
are the very proof of a love that won't ever fade. And the sweet melancholy of memories can be expressed with gratitude.

So poignant, dear Alison!

Love and soothing hugs.

I think missing is useful to teach us patience and appreciation as we miss and place a value on those we care for and so miss...James

"All I have is self-indulgent poetry"

I disagree.

It isn't self-indulgent because you are sharing them with us.  Thank you for giving.

I wish you all could have known my friend, Cade.  He was a man who loved poetry - once shared a wonderful childrens' story with me that he had written.  Cade loved the beach, the ocean and running on the sand.  He ran marathons. He loved family.  Cade leaves a huge hole.

Thank you all for reading this poem and the other poems and writings I have posted about Cade.  I miss him.  I told his father the other day about the response that I have received about his son.  Miguel also sends his thanks to all of you who take the time to let pieces of his son into your lives.

With love,
Alison
