Kentucky Woman Why do things seem all settled and tucked in precisely the moment a new adventure begins. Something to do with a basket full of gamblers coming from out of town and culminating in the heartbeat of Churchill Downs. Something else to do with strangers in the night, women in summer hats and white dresses with a desire to look nice. Energy creating energy, excitement breeding excitement, and the thrill and excitement of today guarantees a most delightful night. May the best man win... JamesLee 16May 2008 |

my, my, my, your poem took me back to an old time frame in my life, 1958 to 1963. went to college with two kentucky women...both were real beauties...miss kentucky beauty pageant queens...shannon beasley and marcia chumbler...also, remember marcia's little brother, billy. he was quite a basketball player and i was a distance runner in those days...my lord, a lot of whistles were blowing in those days. my, my, my, the stories that lay dormant in memories...hey james, thanks for the jolt, enjoyed the poem. |

I get the impression of a big event invading a peaceful sleepy town with worldly sights and excitements. I enjoyed your words even if I got the message wrong. sharyn |

Hmmm, now why do you suppose that I have the sudden urge to sip on a mint julep?!? Linda |
