It’s the middle of January,
and the weather in Philly
is cold and wet.

Felix has a cold sore
on his lower lip
that won’t go away.

The teacher has
a special place
in her heart for Felix.

She knows his father
is locked up,
and his mom is too busy
to bother much.

Felix thinks she likes him,
because she surprised him
under the mistletoe
before Christmas,
and kissed him on the lips,
as he came in the door
to her classroom.

The teacher walks back
to where Felix is sitting,
puts her fingers on each side
of Felix’s lower lip,
and pulls.

Felix figures
she doesn’t like him
as much as he thought.

To this day,
Felix has never
forgiven that teacher,
and has never come up
with a reason
she would do that.

There is nothing
he can do about it.

Sure it hurts, but cold sores heal much faster when broke open and allowed to drain…

However, you didn't know this teacher. She did not have my best interests in mind. She was a nasty, sadistic teacher.

Sounds to me like this teacher should have been running with the group we have in the news these days.

I'm afraid I don't know about those teachers. They haven't made the news here in Philly yet, at least I haven't noticed them.

Felix always seems to meet people with the best of intentions and worst of results. I am sad he has had another disappointment in his life.

That teacher wasn't nice to anyone. She was one mean person, and a bad teacher.
