My Son’s Tears

It’s been a while
but I remember him crying . . .
like it was yesterday –
so hard, I wouldn’t even have heard God,
if he had spoken.
And He didn’t, not to me, not to my son,
whose soul lay draped over my shoulder,
curled in my lap. I remember,
and though I held the tears back, then,
said parent things to him, I can’t anymore . . .
so I cry,
so loud God has to hear,
He has to know,
I miss even my son’s tears.

No consolation . . . no easing . . .
just remember it like it was yesterday –

my son’s . . . tears.

The tears we shed for our children, are tears that sting like no other.

I deeply felt this ink spill from your heart.

Such powerful words in such a poignant write--excellent

Strange.  This does not bring back memories of my son's tears.  Only my own.  Joyce

It so brings those feelings to the surface that, I suppose, will never fade; I am without words except to say, it cries out to me
