words of parchment lay in rest
on still-dressed lines of pardoned ink
dreams in forms of laden thoughts
do their feats of yore rethink

and softness reigns in light let loose
pallored cheeks drawn on billowed beams

words of parchment stand the test
of time-tiered silhouettes serene
thoughts of wise and clever meet
to call their power upon the scene

and stillness gathers in knowledge’s lore
radiating truth to all who reason

and who read
words of parchment, words of truth

Thank you, Linda...I wrote this as I looked upon and admired one of my old, framed Bible pages (1612)

Being an old seminarian from the 1960s, I can really relate to this poem. I like its theme, and especially how it's so well crafted.
