Her ebullient smile,
As radiant as sunshine!
All the while, Death
Slowly opened the door
To enter her being, without
Knocking . . .

And she clasped her cheek
In the palm of her hand, and entered
That uncharted darkness,
Where only the mind of a poet
Can enter and return to tell,
But, even so, it’s only a shadow
of flimsy conjecture, the power
of artistry strained to the fullest
of its measure—a labor
unto weeping and senseless laughter
against the futility of grief!

There comes a time to hurt, a time to say farewell, and a time to move on in one's own journey toward the end of days.
