I feel the darkness as it approaches The chill in the air is not far The scent of burning embers As it breaks into all we are Crackling sound of the fires descent The impending fears will be soon upon me I can’t tell the distance of this tragedy But I feel it as it corners my will to see I try so to fight the incoming wound But I know my bleeding will come nonetheless Wearing my feelings like armor I look to defend where I stand My weakness is being around her I can feel as she slips through my hands My reality drifting much further Than I thought I ever could be The light I once used for guidance Is this darkness that’s all now I see Lying in mud I feel coldness Of the dirt as it lands in my eyes Pushing my will as it covers A life that’s so filled with these lies Lies that say this is over This burning I feel in my heart Buried I’m no longer breathing Just gasping for air as I start The descent of my final giving That which has torn me apart |
