Sally and Felix are just sitting around eating dinner one night. The phone rings, and Sally goes to the office and picks it up. She comes back, and tells Felix that his Foster Dad wants Felix to meet him down at the Paradise Inn tomorrow morning for breakfast at eight O’clock sharp. Felix wonders what that’s all about. Next morning, the foster Dad’s sitting there waiting for him. Felix sits down, and they both order breakfast. After they’ve eaten, Felix asks what’s on the old man’s mind. “Felix, I just wanted to tell you that I’m sorry for all the bad times I gave you, when you were in my house. I’m getting old, can you forgive me?” Felix is dumbfounded. He takes the old man’s hand, and tells him not to worry about it. When they get up to leave, they give each other a farewell hug, and kiss each other on the cheek. Bobby |

Wonderful breakfast time, dear Bobby! And good to know you took his hand, it surely gave him peace. Sometimes when the end season of life approaches people suddenly become aware of the wrong done such a long time ago and have a sharp desire to be forgiven. You said this intensely, without sentimentalism, but the message got through powerfully. So, may this induce us to not wait till we are old if we have something on our hearts to make good. Love, Margherita |

I am sure there will be more tears shed over this one at the fact that small Felix could have been so demeaned and yet grow up with such a loving and forgiving heart. sI am proud of him. Love, Joyce |

Almost too good to be true, but good nevertheless! If only life could have more tender, happy endings. Art |

Thanks Art, Yes, it's true--pretty good for foster care here in the land of the free, and the home of the brave. UNICF says that after The United Kingdom, the U. S. is the worst place in the civilized, industrialized world to be a kid. I believe it. http://www.unicef-icdc.org/publications/pdf/rc7_eng.pdf Bobby |

I believe it too, having observed a few foster care situations myself. You're a better person than I am, Bobby. That old man would probably still be waiting at the diner for me. I'm still working on the kid in the drum and we're talking about a grown man and a father here. I have a really hard time with people who are cruel to anyone or to animals just because the can be. Very touching. Felix is kind man. I do not allow myself to pardon any one who has hurt a child. I believe that if a person intentionally hurt a helpless child, he must have no heart. no soul at all( I do not take any psychological excuse). Purely evil. (though it is useless to do so) Felix is a good man. |

Thanks Seoulair, Oh, I don't know. It doesn't pay to be angry forever. As Felix would say--"There's no money in it." Bobby |

I could hug Felix and squeeze him so tight!!!! He doesn’t hold grudges and he does care and his heart is full… I’m so proud of him Bobby… He didn’t let the hard life make him, he chose to make himself instead… I know too many of Felix's friends who did the opposite... AWESOME!!! Tammy<333 |

Dear Sharyn, You hit the nail on the head. Like me, Felix loves the free meal. Also, the kid was never one for hating, there's just no money in that at all. Now loving, Oh yeah, there can be money in that. Bobby |

now, I should have read this one before I read the one where he threw Felix in the snow Bobby! sometimes I think 'sorry' and 'forgiveness' are words used too lightly and too often... love RDB Be kind at heart....for everyone you meet has their own battle to fight......... |

Dear RDB, That's not true. Sorry, and forgiveness, can never be used too often. Let’s remember the Lord's Prayer-- "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us." Bobby |

Forgiveness is not only a gift that we give to others, it is also a gift that we give to ourselves as well. In spite of all that Felix has endured, he has grown to be a strong, forgiving man. God bless him ~ and you... Linda |

Dear Linda, As is his practice, Felix has made a careful economic assessment of the situation. What's in it for Felix if he stays angry--nothing. What's in it for Felix if he forgives--possibly something. It's a simple choice. Bobby |

Thanks Caliban, Felix does have good character. He has an easy way of going, and yet displays good discipline. After all he’s been through, it must come naturally. He’s also a logical thinker that realizes when a possible opportunity comes along. Bobby |
