Last night I walked through open fields,
...at dusk as oft I do,
Far beyond the din of man,
...as darkness slowly grew,
Reaching out with shadowed hand,
...to grasp the light of day,
Wresting Helios to the void,
...until the night held sway,
With day's passing came the stars,
...to grace the firmament,
Shone a million sparkling jewels,
...night's gift from heaven sent,
Then came for me end of my walk,
...I turned to city's light,
To leave behind the open fields,
...and the splendor of the night.

I remember when I worked in a very stressful, high-profile job, I used to come home so late and this was always my routine.  Take off my day clothes and shoes, go into the yard, breathe deeply standing on the grass and just absorb the sky.  The serenity always stabilized me, and still does.  It is amazing how very small we are, and unimportant "stuff" is when you look up isn't it?  The great thing is now I can go barefoot any old time in retirement - it is AWESOME!

I loved this and printed it to remind me of the hectic days behind me and the carpe' diem ones ahead of me.

This is lovely and very calming. A simple little walk offers so much sometimes.

Wow! This is beautiful. How gorgeous is the night sky when you take the time to see the stars so bright…

You're in the right part of the country, to find just the right spot at night,

to see nothing but stars.

I know!
