Felix’s foster father lives out in the country. He has a big garden. It’s his son James’s garden. James uses Felix to take care of the garden. Day in, and day out, James has Felix working his garden. Felix’s hands are calloused, from working that hoe, all day long, while James just sits there watching him out there in the hot sun sweating and straining. James even brings his girlfriend out to see his garden. She likes to watch Felix work the garden too. She laughs with James, as they make fun of Felix, out there working the garden. Felix hates them. He’s thinking he’d like to take that hoe, and give someone a serious headache. Bobby |

It seems that foolish James should know A garden not worked with love won't grow. Though Felix has proven to be no quitter Fruits of his labor could be bitter. Joyce |

Thanks Yann, Yes, I think many times, hatred is reasonable. Felix did hate them at the time, but he got over it. Bobby |

Thanks Joyce, Your rhymed response is very good, and true. It’s extremely unfortunate, and sad that so much labor in the world is bitter labor. Bobby |

Dear Tammy<333, Felix never did do revenge. In fact, in later years, Felix treated that whole family well. Eventually, both James, and his father apologized to Felix for treating him rotten. Bobby |

My Dad used to make us work in the garden when I was a child and, surprisingly, I still like to work in the yard and plant things. I can certainly see where Felix is coming from though. |

It is so good to hear that serenity came back to this relationship, dear Bobby. It shows how God works! Where "justified" hatred is transformed into love there is great blessing. To be laughed at is one of the worst things that can happen to a child. Poor Felix. Though my step-father made us "take out" the so called weed for punishment, I nonetheless loved the garden immensely for all it offered me in sight and taste! You already know me, I love every blade of grass and wonder at the miracle of all those beauties growing ... Love, Margherita ![]() |

Good endurance. It was not the working. It was the insulting. It is nice to know that they apologized. |

Thanks Ida, It's good you understand the situation here. What bothered Felix is that he was doing all this work, and he knew he'd never get anything out of it, except a good tan. Bobby |

Margherita, Yes, Felix forgave him. I can't say love ever developed. He was a brute. I once saw him put a little kid into a 55 gallon drum, and seal it. That kid must have been scared half to death. He thought it was a riot. Bobby |

Thanks Seoulair, The laughter was bad, but the idea of doing all that work, and not getting anything out of it was a bother too. Bobb |

Dear RDB, Awww, now you know Felix isn't anything special. He just seems to have this "Kick Me" sign plastered on his back. Quite naturally, Felix says thank you for your kind concern. Love Bobby |

Dear Sharyn, It's one of Felix's rules of life. "If you can get it free, don't pay for it." Sally once talked him into going to a theripist. The guy just threw up his hands, and told Felix that he couldn't do a thing with him. Bobby |
