The Power of Clay Though beneath an immortal Sun, the grand earthen hues of Deep-Time’s astonishing palette, granted archaic hands the finest first expressions of art… know that man’s deepest fears also lie within a temporal ‘hand of clay’ ...grasping... that first handful of enduring clay. ---b. e. adams (4/12/08) ~ [This message has been edited by secondhanddreampoet (04-13-2008 12:01 AM).] |

To have had a chance to hold within my hands, some 'deep-time' clay, formed millions of years before humans walked the earth...is an honor beyond words. I have held warm-color earth clay and shall never forget the feelings it evoked. I try to imagine how the early cave painters must have felt when they touched the earth's deep palette as they created their cave paintings, or how the earliest potters felt as they worked the clay. |

What a beautiful, deep-thinking poem!! Just Two hours back from Grand Canyon, what has been in my mind? your poems. Now, again. The clay, how and why does it yield, yield million years to water, wind in silence. To hold what? the deep time or the void? Thank you for your poem and have a great weekend dear Bruce. ![]() |

I used to teach art to the children at school and I loved teaching them to make roses out of clay. We also did dinosauers and other things. It was alot of fun and the kids loved it. There's something very satisfying about working with clay and this poem reminded me of it. Ida |

Bruce, You bring us lots to think about in your poetry and you bring us beauty in your words and images. You say you are not a poet - I disagree. You photograph with words. A |
