5/4/07 I Miss You. It begins in the depths of the soul….this longing. It swells and begins to well up and outward….this yearning. It overtakes the body inside and out….this desire. It swallows the very spirit….this aching need. Little things set if off. A tool that was used by only you. A flavor that was one of your favorites. A sound that tap, tap, taps. Behind closed eyes. In pages of still gloss. Tales of time past. These are but replacements. Not fulfillments. And then it breaks free of the very core. It grows hot, trembles, and quakes. Quickly, it surges throughout every atom. Finally, it bursts forward and out. Crashing waves of searing salt crests the brims. Forcing blurred visions. Gasping sobs, uncontrolled. Racked by grief. I miss you. |

xTr3m3sT, Might I suggest you take the time to read Tammys other posts before critiquing this one. When you have done so, you may want to delete this post and perhaps even apologise. It is not a poem per se as you will quickly realise and as such, this comment was not called for... Sorry Tammy, he is not a bad kid really. John |

xTr3m3sT I am a carpet installer by trade. One with nothing more than a sixth grade education. I had never written “anything” prior to my son’s death. This was my third attempt to express the anguish that burns within me. (You should read the first two. hahahahah They’re terrible.) After a year of reading and expressing my feelings through writing, I do in fact realize that this piece could use A LOT of work, had it been written for anyone other than my own son. However, Larry loved me every bit the way I am, as myself, and so there is absolutely no reason for me to alter this. As rough as it may be, it was the best I could do at that time, and I am happy with it as it is. I just wanted to share it. I do thank you for taking the time to read it though. And I do look forward to your critiques on future writes. Tammy<333 John, You are too sweet and I thank you for the rescue… Tammy<333 |

Thank you my dear Seoulair. Your words are so very true and these are the reasons I took up writing and sharing my thoughts… To release a bit of the pain that hinders so that I can be the mom I need to be for Darrin (Larry’s little brother). You are so sweet Seoulair and I appreciate your reading of my writings… Tammy<333 |

Nothing written from the heart is ever TERRIBLE, my friend. Maybe they didn't EXPRESS what you truly wanted to say, but heart-soul-love-words are never terrible. Then again, re-read them, just maybe they said exactly what you wanted to say. But they were wonderful just because they were from Mom. Much enjoyed both this and The Reaper. my heart... jimmy |

RDB, You are so sweet and I thank you so much for welcoming me and giving of your time to read my writings and sending me your heart felt thoughts… Jimmy, Thank you so much. I had never thought of it that way… I think I will re-read them, heck, with everyone here being as kind to my writings as you all have been, I may even post them… I am glad you liked this and The Reaper… I was actually quite proud of The Reaper for some time as it was my first attempt at…well I don’t know what it’s really called, but I call it vision poems… Tammy<333 |

Hi Larrysmom. I just want to tell that I think you have a wonderful talent, You can work out the details as you go along. Spelling, grammar even styles of writing can be learned but you have the ability to touch others with your poet's soul, a rare gift. You just keep writing and we'll keep reading and I think we all learn from each other. Love, Ida |

Larrysmom, Welcome to these blue pages. May your stay be long and rewarding. This piece requires no apologies. It reads as it was written... from the bottom of a broken heart. My dad got to the seventh grade and I know for a fact, after finishing college, that learning isn't only done in school. Take confidence in what you know and press on. My son is Larry Jr. and my daughter died five years ago at the age of 28. I do indeed feel your pain and wrote tons on these blue pages to stagger my way through my grief. So I admire your brave heart and your willingness to share. Larry C (Larrysdad) If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Dear Tammy, you brought again deep emotion with your touching write of longing. I found it was absolutely perfect when I read it, don't change a thing. It is you and it is Larry, the way you feel and it reaches out to other's hearts powerfully. Love and hugs. Margherita |

Larrysmom, I just ran across this poem and this is the first I've read of yours. Then I read all the replies and I see there has been some tad-do over it and then a lot of encouragement. I am not going to sit here and claim I am some great poet or anything considering I'm new to this world and this web site. I have been convinced by a very close friend and member of this site (Hardrock) to join and post my writings. I don't have any style, formal training, or have read any books on this stuff. I just began writing one day based on how I felt. My stuff is really raw and it came from inside me. When I finally begin posting, it's more to share it with others (as Hardrock as guided me) vice looking for notoriety or whatever. This is me and a lot (not all) is a snapshot (or photograph) of what's inside my head vice the physical world on the outside. So, to some up this long Reply, when I read your poem... the WOW factor came into effect!!!! I was blown away! This is right up my alley of how my points come across. I hope your new coping mechanism is helping you to release your pain! I am very sorry for your extraordinary loss! Keep Smiling! V/r, Virtual Abyss |

I just read some of the postings, and I would like to say it doesn't matter how you write or what you write in a time of loss. What matters is that you find some sort of release through your writes. I too suffer a loss and I must say if I were to have received negative comments of any sort, it may have discouraged me from posting. Just needed to tell you, don't be discouraged because some people appreciate the emotion of others dealing with the same type of loss. Deeply sorry for your loss. Keep writing and posting, I will be reading!! |

My dad's education was limited... but he's the one who instilled a love of poetry in me. And when words come from this deep inside a heart... they're beautiful... and they speak directly to other hearts. I haven't been very active on PIP for some time now, but I welcome you! |

You know, I don't think this is terrible at all.. it's so hard to write these feelings. I truly know; I lost my daughter 4 years ago this last April Fools' day.. keep it up; I think it helps. I know this one spoke to me very eloquently. Pepper |

just wanted to add my 2 cents here Tammy... The way a poet writes, when thier actually feeling the words for real... IS real.. REAL poetry comes form the heart, not from the textbooks... the critics sometimes think that everyone should adhere to certain rules or conventional techniques.. and thats fine for them and for many others.. But when your writing what you feel, WHEN YOU FEEL IT... sometimes the textbooks just don't have a page for that and you have to make it up as you go along.. I loved this piece Tammy, not because of how it was written.. but because of WHY it was written...... Never be a carbon copy of anybody...make your own impressions. - ANON. |

Me again.... Kurt Vonnegut said, "The only voice you can truly believe in is your own" By that, I think he meant that writers shouldn't try to "reach for" a voice to make themselves heard...or read.. That they should be themselves and write in a tone and use words and grammar that they would use themselves... You've done that here... and I think your message came through loud and clear and heartfelt and most of all REAL... thanks... Chris Never be a carbon copy of anybody...make your own impressions. - ANON. |

Tammy - I'm so very sorry for your loss but I would most certainly encourage you to continue writing because I feel your pain through your words. I believe we grow more through our feelings than through academic studies. Feelings must be known to exist and you have made them known. A sign of a true poet I would say. A belated welcome to pip. May your stay here bring healing and enlightenment. I don't think we can ever have enough of that. Hugs Helen |

Dear Larry's Mom, I have just found your poetry. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope that writing about it brings a bit of healing to you. I too have lost a son. My one and only precious son. However, I was privileged to have him longer than seventeen years and each of those years he lived brought me much joy and pride. I started writing my poems after I lost him and am still composing them. May your younger son bring you nothing but love and happiness. Joyce (Cliff's Mom) |

there is life after loss...though, life is never the same...although I do believe, to find passionate meaning in his life, will be your solence...it is necessary, so necessary to express, your feelings...your pain, sorrow and believe you me, these friendly faces in these blue pages will not ignore you, but much more, encourage you, lift you and warm you. Please know, that when you hurt, we hurt... I will light a candle tonight...for you... in hopes that find strength and understanding thru your writing...you have a family here at PIP.... Cliff’s Mom, I am so sorry for your loss of your son Cliff. Thank you so much for your kind and caring words. Larry also brought me so much joy, happiness and pride each and every year he was with me and his memory still does even though his physical absence brings such pain and sorrow… Darrin (my youngest) is my strength and he continues to be my reason. _______________________________ Lee J., Thank you so much for your warm and kind words and for lighting a candle… As you said, I have already found many a new, kind, caring and compassionate friends here in these blue pages and they truly have encouraged, warmed, and lifted me. They so truly have. I have found much comfort in writing and even more in sharing what I write, and I am truly happy I found these blue pages. You are right though… life will be…just never the same again without Larry. Tammy<333 |
