Two travelers, strangers they were,
Met along a narrow and darkened path
Above a deep and perilous gorge.
One held his lantern high to light his own
And the other’s face, and one held
His lantern low to light each other’s way.
Each passed safely, as their lanterns
grew brighter in the darkness.

This is one of my few attempts at writing a poem in the form of a parable.

Oh the beauty and intimacy in this piece rings soundly. This poem has been infused with talent indeed.

This has a deeper meaning that I find very
comforting, Art.

knowledge is light and light is truth to the truth seeker. where is god and why is sexuality attributed to the deity?

Hi, rv. We humans have ourselves as a point of reference, and when it comes to the deity, we posit human attributes, such as gender, to try to define the deity. The Native Americans call the deity, the Great Spirit. I am the last man on earth to even hint that I know the mind and nature of the incomprehensible God. When it comes to mathematics, I manipulate symbols and rules to find solutions, and when it comes to the Deity, I stand in reverence and awe!

Gilead,

Yeah, that's the way it should be.  We should all light each others way.

yes...i understand...each of us within our minds must have a center to maintain a reference for balance...my question must have been rhetorical.

I can only to hope to meet, along my journey, people who are willing to help light my way like this… What beautiful writing. It says so very much in such a gentle way…
