O-ptimism let’s keep a smile on every face as things they do go wrong let’s focus not on second place gathering cheer in ev’ry song let’s color bright with colors light and ban the grays and browns let’s turn to morn’ every night and turn upright our frowns let’s spell all things with a capital O and ban the words ‘never’ and ‘can’t’ let’s treat each other kindly, though we often rave and rant let’s remember the weaknesses of the ones we call the others let’s speak with the voice of goodly love and treat each one as brothers* *and/or sisters (to be politically correct—but, it just won’t rhyme) |

Ah, a poet who cares to be politically correct---refreshing! That aside, you've written a very fine poem, to which we'd be wise to take heed. Art |

"let’s remember the weaknesses of the ones we call the others" I guess it would be easier to remember if we knew that each weakness "they" possess we possess as well - but we'll never admit it. I'm sitting here now trying to imagine a world where we do treat everyone as brothers and I've realized that I don't have any guidelines - not in history or these present times. That's very sad! Helen, never have truer words been spoken than those you have penned...thanks for reading...I appreciate your comments Ida, ah yes, but then my calling is not to change the other, but rather, to make sure that I, myself, subscribe to such a position...then the change will have begun with that which I can control...thank you so much for your thoughtful reply |

I like the way you think! ~ and write! Now, if only the rest of the population did so, that would definitely boost my own optimism! lol Linda |

I, too, really like this poem. It has a great message and, personally, I vote for the Capital O. Nothing like a big O to make me smile. |
