            PEACE

Peace is when the moonlight
Filters softly through the leaves,
When the breezes gently murmur
As they sigh among the eaves.

Peace is when the firelight
Flickers softly out of sight,
When the embers finally vanish
In the stillness of the night.

Peace is moonlight on the water,
Twilight on the never ending plain,
Where you hear the curlew’s eerie calling
And the cricket’s sharp refrain.

Peace is a far off distant camp-fire
With the gumleaves burning bright,
To hear a dingo’s lonely calling
In the distance of the night.

Peace is just a little girl
With head nestled on your chest
When she whispers , oh so softly,
Dad, I love you the best.

Peace is just an easy chair
When a hard day’s work is oe’r,
And your wife brings out your slippers
And an evening drink what's more.

Peace is clean sheets and pillow cases
When you come home tired at night,
With the weekend round the corner
And not a job in sight.

Peace has many faces
And last but not the least,
Is when you go to meet your maker
When life at last has ceased.

Lindsay,

This is beautiful.  I remember sleeping out under the stars one night when driving through Canada on the way home.  It was late and we were tired - the night was warm, no mosquitoes, so we lay out in the moss and listened to the wolves howl.  It was beautiful and -- it was "Peace".

Hello, my dear Aussie friend! I too, have experienced such peaceful moments and your serene poem brought so many of them back to me.

However, for me it was a coyote's eerie calling instead of a curlew and a loon's lonely calling instead of a dingo.

However, I never had a wife to bring me my slippers in the evening.

May peace be with you ~ on Earth, as it is in Heaven.

Love & Easter blessings,

Linda
