He passed away today
Lazare Ponticelli,
90 years after WWI,
He fought for a land
that had welcome him,
for the wheat which fed him
for the cities which smiled him,
Toulouse, Paris, Marseille,
he fought for the sky
and gazed at the ultimate sun,
He died the 12 march 2008
Lazare Ponticelli,
The last one from the Poilus.

2islander2,

God bless Lazare Ponticelli.  A true hero, and giant of a human.

Yann~
This is a wonderful tribute to a true hero~

*(Information for others)*
This gentleman was 110 years old when he passed, outliving more than 8.4 million other soldiers who fought under the French flag in World War I to become France’s last living veteran of the war intended to end all wars~

Welcome to PiP ... we are a wonderful community circle of poets and friends~
