Aye, lad, 'tis late, I've miles to go- Ere night 'er shroud doth spread. I fancy grog, an' ingle nook... To rest me weary 'ead. But, aye, I'll drink...'ere's to yer 'ealth! An' now we'll drink to mine- An' lad I'll now propose a toast.... To loves we left behind! 'Tis sad the choices men must make- Aye, oft they cause to weep. Tha' men, they're fools, go off to war, Or to some fortune seek... And bid the lass, "Be off wi' ye! An' break 'er tender 'eart... But rest assured, 'e too will pay.. When sorrow shoots 'er darts. Aye, drink 'er down, I've miles to make- Yer comp'ny's passin' kind... Let's lift one more afore I leave.... To loves we left behind! P’raps true love may yet await- Somewhere along the trail, For now we two will ‘bide alone, So goes the Traveler’s Tale. |
