The Four Winds If the Spring wind knows not kindness, why does it bring me blossoms? If the Summer wind knows not joy, why does it dance with fireflies and Jasmine memories? If the Autumn wind knows not empathy, why does it so gently lay the final flaming leaves on lake and forest floors? If the Winter wind knows not pathos, why does it wail such plaintive songs through the bare bonewood-trees? ~ [In case I decide NOT to 'post' anymore 'poetry' on the cyber-pirate sea (internet)... I want to thank all the grand poets on this website, for having put up with me along the way...it has been a grand Romantic excursion across the blue sands of 'P.I.P.-land!] [Bruce E. I love this brilliant piece! To assign such profound questions to each of the four seasons...well, Bruce, you've done it again! Another library keeper for me. |

This poem brings to mind Roethke’s Words for the Wind, a love poem in four parts. In it, Roethke incorporates his questions, his bonds with nature, and his belief that meaning is found through intuition and love reciprocated by another. A fine quartet, Poet. Beautifully articulated. |

Nice writing...I love the wind when its blowing in the 15 to 25 mph range...it makes me feel alive...and the trees love it too as they dance in the wind...James |
