Plays too the dirge of spruce spread across the sky in high shadows far above the dark twine of roots that lie buried beneath fine needles where small the blooms of violets are lost in fine petals collecting mist Wet upon the outer ends of whorl As the rhythm of days passing turns hours Into but fleeting moments shared of zenith Followed by azimuth of sun
My hands find stone to be a cold scepture For the hold of such small deaths as come With each passing goodbye to tones Resonating within confines of my own shadowed world Where the music played becomes a fugue Of lost touches followed by the sigh That from the tender slow finger of strings is Tied only to the knurl and anchor And not to flesh Though it feels its ache deep within The bass of alder or the thin of lacewood as it might hum A lighter tone
Reminding again of that lost among giants Born along some glade Where bed becomes the fern tendered With blossoms left over yet from spring
Soughs the wind in roiled tumult of clouds In the play along boughs of trees
My thoughts turn to Mozart As fingers would find the strings To bring forth from the depths of you those songs Only souls when touched by flesh can sing Remembering too the feel of such notes As I scribed with stuttered vowels Along the curve of hip And on the slope of breast
Listening For shadowed moans To tell me roots were broken free of adagio
Refrain
Ten thousand strings still bind Each half note of breath I breathe Reverberating off of stone
When I picture nude the page And the words I would have it Contain

You had me at the first stanza... but the addition of Mozart was a blessing...
Oh, we have missed you! So good to have you back again!

nakedthoughts... ma'am..I'm tone deaf.. so I doubt it has a tune anyone could sing...
you sort of have to "feel" the music underneath....
thank you kindly... for stopping in..and for the kind words..

Dark.. well who could not be influencd in some ways by her spirals... since I have no real talent of my own, borrowing a few of the things that work for her and others and making them a bit more southern in tone seems to get me by..
appreciate your eyes m'friend.and the words
