January Thaw Turned away from the peaks of illustrious days Back toward the shore where the Maram grass sways Bergs standing guard a horizon of white Sparkling as thoughts that reflect the first light Musing after the cold of a long winter wait Not so sure or so ready to accept hibernate It seems long in the darkness past first snow’s denote Growing tired of layers all too heavy the coat Though the snow sheds delight of its own swell accord Somehow taking the warmth that I can ill afford When the sky turns so suddenly blue as your eyes That diffinitive heat takes the chill by surprise In the process of winter, just a respite of spring Simple smiles of January thaw everything Copyright Kkh 1/14/08 |

Oh that first hint of spring after a chilly winter. What a treat. I enjoyed this. Joyce |

Fine imagery…such as: Bergs guarding a white horizon; Sparkling thoughts reflecting first light; ...about the grand-fine January “respite of spring” applause! |

Yep, before you know, it will be spring and the heater won't run nearly as long as before....But those snow trails ....fun, aren't they? |
