Sally and Felix sit there quiet, New Years Day Mass, Mother of Divine Grace Church. Felix is quiet and reflective. He’s reflecting back on his time in foster care so many years ago. He remembers everything about those years. He can forgive being beaten, raped, and worked half to death. The only memory that really bites his bottom is the Master of the house harping about how lucky he was to be taken in by such a good Christian family. Yeah, that really bites his bottom. Bobby |

Felix IS lucky... to be gone from that setting, never to return. Good to read you again, Mr Jordan. |

Most likely...I could not do effective 'reality' writes given a million years to try! another fine 'penning' in Felix's continuing story! |

It is our response to the things that happened in our past that determine our future...unfortunately some have more than they would like on their plate...James |

I suppose the New Year is a time for reflecting but more a time for looking forward, for me anyhow I have found that living in the past does no good at all hugs to Felix |

Hi Bobby, I understand, such events simply can't be forgotten, too tough really. It is a sad reality that there are/were foster families who take/took in the children only to abuse them with hard work and no gratitude and love. But of course there are wonderful people who really have a great generous heart and imitate the true Christ in helping children. I am glad to hear Felix and Sally are doing well. Always good to read you. Love, Margherita ![]() |

JamesMichael, What you say is true to a large extent. However, by strength of will, many people are able to “get over it”. It’s always a good thing to “get over it”. Getting over it is many times the key to a happy future. passing shadows, It’s never good to “live in the past”, it is however valuable to remember the past. Many times that allows us to make things better. Margherita, Yes, there are many of those wonderful people. I remember an old friend from way back whose foster mother used to take us in after school. She would play the piano and sing to us. He also had some bad times with some foster parents. Unfortunately, my friend was killed in an auto accident when he was 16 years old. One of his foster parents had given him the car. The poor kid just didn’t have any good luck at all. He's the inspiration for a lot of my writing. Bobby |

It is so good to read your writing again, Bobby, and to hear more about Felix. Thank you for giving us an insight into the young person who inspires your writings. He was fortunate in at least one way: What a fine friend he had in you -- remembering him so well all these decades. |

Since I didn't have your experiences, I won't give you any sage advice on how you should forgive and forget about these awful events or talk to you about all of the wonderful people in the world. Obviously the ones you met weren't so wonderful (and I know they're out there) I will just say that I enjoy the fact that you tell it like it is do it very well. This ability must be you consolation prize for all of the horrors you have endured and will touch others in ways you can't even know. Ida |

ArtSolstice, Felix and I were very close. We were older than our classmates. Felix, because he had missed a year of school, after being “farmed out” to a farmer, and me because I didn’t like to go to school, and didn’t bother with it. Felix said that he didn’t get to go to school the year he was farmed out, because there was just too much work to do on the farm. That was in the year of his death that summer. Ida, Actually, I was raised by a wonderfully non-obsessive single mother. When I was ten she informed me that I was free to do whatever I wanted to, she wasn’t going to worry about me in the least. What better gift can you give a kid than his freedom? Bobby |

Mr. Jordan. I just wanted you to know that I dug out all of your previous posts earlier in order to experience as much of your writing as possible and I'm really looking forward to reading more in the future. |

Ida, No problem about mother love. However, let me fill you in on a few facts. My mother was a single mom in a rough neighborhood, and I was her only child. She was also very well educated, and highly intelligent. Many mothers in her situation would have been over protective. Mother knew however, that I had to survive, and be my own person. It was hard for her, but she untied the apron strings, and put me in the street. I thank her memory for that everyday. That was sixty-one years ago. It seems like yesterday. She was a brave woman. I think about her a lot. Bobby |
