     The Hole in The Wall

A year or two has slipped away
Since my daughter said to me,
Dad you ought to get a visa card
Then from cash problems you’ll be free.

If you forget to take money on a trip
And then your memory lapse condemn,
You’d find if you had a visa card
You can get cash from the ATM.

So I applied for a visa card
And a pin number as I recall
And when at last the great day came
I stood before that hole in the wall.

My daughter had shown me what to do
But to take notice I’d neglected
And when I pushed the card right in
It came straight back out rejected.

Four people behind me in the queue,
My ego, I knew I must rekindle,
Again the machine spat out the card
And my confidence start to dwindle.

What must I be doing wrong
I just couldn’t think at all
With trepidation gaining ground
I faced again that hole in the wall.

I gingerly pushed the card back in,
I thought this time I’ve got it right ,
But then a plastic screen came down
And my card disappeared from sight.

It was Saturday and the bank was closed
And being more frustrated I can’t recall,
And tho’ the queue had grown to six
I cursed that hole in the wall.

It happens. One of my friend (trust me, in Australia too)could not remember her PIN so the ATM swallowed her card twice.
another life experience.
enjoyed and felt the pain.

Oh, my! I can imagine your frustration ~ and embarrassment!

The first time that I ever used an ATM, I was like a kid in a candy store when the money came flying out! What an invention!

The next time I went, I kept mixing up the pin number and then I stopped trying because that "big hole in the wall" said that it was going to eat me up (oh, I suppose they meant my card lol) if I entered the wrong pin in one more time! Well, I quit while I was ahead!

Sorry for your trials and tribulations, dearheart!

Loving, understanding hug,
Linda

You described one of those situations that are tragic and frustrating in the moment, but after a while when remembering them we are able to think of them as hilarious.

Enjoyed this greatly, dear Lindsay. Constant technical and electronical development bring many a challenge, but usually after the first unsuccessful attempts we get it!

love and joy,
Margherita

Has your never used Cellphone screamed "low batteries, recharge please!"?

Have your GPS told you to go around on other road  after you arrived home?

Something might be telling you not to put your trust too much in a piece of plastic.
I like your poem though and think many people,(though not myself since I do not use credit cards), will be able to appreciate what you have said.

To all my good friends at PIP, thank you so much for your response, I'm glad to know

that I'm not the only one who have had my kind of troubles, but there again I'm not

the sharpest knife in the draw when it comes to modern technical inventions.

Have a great day folks

Misadventures with the card.  I have had a few of those.  Fun to read.
