The Legend Of The Mistletoe Angel
By: Noah Eaton
12/23/02

Up atop a magical blue spruce tree
In the middle of a misty kaleidoscope lake
Where all of Mother Nature's sparrows and bluebirds gather
Where brother partridges and sister doves play

There lives a Singing Sparrow, who rests
Under a blanket of rivulet mistletoe
Eating the ripe berries with happy chirps
Then flying off by dawn wherever his heart roams

The berries are fruits of life that produce love
Like a parasite the warm harmony is spread
Legend has it early every Christmas Eve
The sparrow turns into a mysterious angel, many have said

With a long dress, made entirely of poinsettia and mistletoe
Wings of the northern lights, glowing bright like molten lava
With a crown of sapphire and holly, worn over to match his blue eyes
A face of porcelain, with a warm gingerbread smile of sangria

He wears many beads around his neck which symbolize X-mas colors
With long brown hair flowing gently like a grandmothers smile when she cooks dinner
For her many children and grandchildren that embrace her lovingly
Whose cheeks blush pink with a glow like that of a kiss from a little girl to her father

His eyes are unlike any others eyes, they are rather unique
When sad you can see the seven sisters in space
When laughing you can see Pleiades and shooting stars
When happy you can see Andromeda and north star tears stream down his face

He strums an acoustic guitar with a bluebird complexion base
With a robin egg neck and strings fashioned of egg nog gold
When played, all the sparrows gather together and sing with him
As we are all sparrows of God, with so much love to behold

Every Christmas he goes to visit every little boy without a smile
Every little girl without a warm bed to sleep upon
And hugs the children gently and sings gentle kyries
With a voice like a Bosendorfer he sings these songs,

"Children, fear not, you are loved
Sparrows we are, sparrows we sing
May the sparrows sing with you tonight
And Christmas cheer lovingly bring

You are Christmas, so Christmas let be
And show others Christmas you see
So become Christmas and follow Thee
And celebrate Christmas each day unconditionally"

And he gives each golden-hearted boy and girl a hug
Hope and seed to feed the songbirds
So all the sparrows can sing with their church bell vocals
With Charlotte Church smiles that can even be heard

And encourages all Christmas is a holiday for every day
For everyone to enthusiasticly celebrate
Giving and sharing is an example we must set
The children in our hearts always live, boys and girls with love ablaze

And even after every Christmas day, the Mistletoe Angel is there
Morphing back into the sparrow which sings everywhere
Where God always feeds the birds with songs of praise
And teaches the fledglings to fly with unicorn leaps in loves air

Love is a parasite, one without a cure
So spread the love and make rosy cheeks to all throughout the year
As Mistletoe Angel stands on the top of your tree
Smiling with little boys laughter and little girls cheers
