My wife say's that after almost 33 years (23th of the month) she's STILL cleaning up Talcum Powder...
I say, I still check out the footprints...too. I think it's a trade off neither of us wants to give up......

Talcum

Talcum.
Powder.
I seem to get it all over the place.
The tub, the floor, the vanity,
and once in awhile,
under my arms and between my legs.
It seems to linger in the air,
waiting for me to breathe;
if only I could ionize it,
spin around, toss it in the air,
let it cover me everywhere needed.
Then you wouldn't get so upset,
grumble and gripe about cleaning it up,
me getting it everywhere.
I thought about doing it under the shower;
powdering myself that is,
but it still wouldn't get where needed.
Besides, every once in a while
I see your footprint
on the bathmat,
shades of blue surrounded by a dusting of white,
five and a half, I believe,
a hundred and two,
five feet and a stretch,
brown, shoulder length,
blue,
soft and sweet, lingering on mine,
silky soft, hot and fiery ---
talcum,
falling through the air,
covering everything,
coating the bathmat,
waiting,
waiting,
for that trace of you.

My first thought was "Why don't you clean it up yourself?" - then I thought, "What a lovely poem and marriage." - then I thought, "This man's poetry has gotten to me again."

You sure make me think a lot.

LOL - actually I don't get it all over the place...when I do use it I try to do so in the shower stall or the tub so it can just be rinsed away.  There was a time, though, way back, when I did see Terry's footprint on the brand new, dark blue bathmat we had - the inspiration for this piece - but it was actually she who put the powder there... Yup, Yup.

Sometimes though, I forget where I am...heh, heh.

Footprints on a bathmat...what a lovely mingling of everyday stuff.  Magical, the feeling imparted in your words.
You are blessed with this good karma...and apparently...talcum!
