I really never was one to
worry about dreams or where they could
take me for the longest time I was under the
impression and of a firm confession that
I was nothing more than a
worthless piece
of

ozark
mountain
drudgery swept about
on a faded prairie but after rolling
back a few pages of particulars I figured I'd

take the opportunity to experience some of
that excitement again and so it
was that while
recanting
not one
but
far
too
many
late hour
inconveniences
discovered a major portion
of youthful vigor had been in time not so
well spent so after a little editing through useless miseries
that crunched with bite your fingernail anxiety I figured I'd take a detour
around the particulars what could anyone say living was young and the easy
scene at the market place was hoppin’ you know the places designer jeans
alcohol discotheques where night lights set every possible mood
and everybody you know is living on the edge

of course I was on a borderline
between cognizance and well I had a graveyard job
punching a time-clock that had been so well weathered that I
wondered how many greasy hands pushed it in and out never
mind what they could've been thinking we were known as
rent-a-pig's dubbed a sub specie formed by the late
sixties free-speech movement it didn't take
long to realize anyone doing what
we did would have to have
something on
those

late starry nights
ambulating from station to
station if it hadn’t been for
my 'ol pig-nose and a
Norma Jean ax
that mom
bought
me
on

a
warm
summer
day I would’ve
most likely perished of
boredom it wasn’t much and I
actually learned to play it pretty darn

well never the less it was friday and the night was drawn
and a long way from done a deep breath a brash burst through
the backstage while drawing a smile on a jaded face a gorgeous
peripheral beauty is hangin' on the drummer's neck I hope he
can get it up for the next set I notice a couple of wet
T-shirt girls necking in the corner when out
from of what seems like no
where this starry
eyed

doll

appears grabbing my
elbow and twisting herself about
under over and through my arms like a
cobra copiloted into a sonorous sway of
lamentation eyes lashing with a gentle
sweep that would've made the
waves envious
not

at all like anything you'd imagine

but who's complaining she’s motivated running on octane
miles a minute I don’t think anyone's caught her drift yet that is if
there was any to catch in the first place she had to be flying one
of them jumbo flights to causerie at that speed she paints
an aura like she’s known me for an eternity reality
says I've never meet her but she has this
friend who wants to make my
acquaintance
&

with

the tugging on my arm
and all not quite sure if I'm up
for another encounter but then
again it's friday what could
I say dawdling along
mind boggled
and

meandering

dubious of who she may or
may not be a motor rumbles from what
sounds to be like quite a distance they're
pulling up right out front the windows
open..! who..? what... could
it be..?

it's

my cat...
she wants some love

Speaking of ghosts, wouldn't you know here comes mine again...

I thought, this was written for ME? (THIS Karen?) And then I read it, and I'd shake my head laughing but I only thought I was dizzy when I started to read this and oh lucky you'll have to forgive me because I'm running another course of meds and it's making me pretty foggy and weirder than normal which isn't too normal but I guess that depends on who I'm compared with (or should I have typed "to whom I am compared") and oh my...how funny this is because last night my cat got out and he's not actually my cat but I'm watching it for my nephew, but anyhow, the cat is an agoraphobic cat and he only just learned this last night (actually the wee hours of this morning) whereupon his discovery of that the big blue marble out there was fun but skeery even if you have claws prompted him to attach himself to my livingroom window screen SCREAMING (or izzit yowling?) which prompted my yellow lab/german shepherd attack dog to commence an attack upon said window since Annabelladonnatellacinderella (my dog's actual name) didn't recognize said cat as a "friendly" through the glass which alerted my daughter to this emergency situation, so she went out there to save Buster the cat from himself, whereupon, in his frantic cat state he attached himself to my daughter's head, which prompted my daughter's boyfriend to save my daughter from the long-clawed Buster, and he tossed Buster into the house and the dog, still unaware that this cat was our cat attacked the cat which prompted Buster into another hissing yowling frenzy until he found his way safely back to my bed. (Which is a desperate bid for sanctuary if you ask me, but nobody ever does. Ask me I mean. My cat (which is actually not my cat) was indeed in need of love so I am finding your poem particularly delightful this afternoon even as I contemplate the possibility of actually dying laughing.

So, even if this was written for some other Karen, I think I just made a pretty good case for its application to me.

And nodding, life was indeed a carnival and it remains to be seen whether I will survive myself or NOT. (Is it possible to survive yourself?)

I ask you, is it too late to start being a good girl?

*wink*

Thanks for sharing the fun, mr. lucky! My love to Rosemary and all the clan.

p.s. Me and Buster both stay in now. We're exhausted. *grin*

p.s.s. I'd love to hear your music, too, if that is at all possible.

I like this one so much!  It could be for any of us ladies who need some love.  I was reading along, thinking how sensitive he is, and then - POW, it was the CAT!

It's true, we love our cats!

Ever-so-meeow and kisses and cuddles to your darling cat - from me (an owl), my cat (Tigger) and my Maltese poodle (Daisy).  Loved your poem and the format.  Glad your cat wasn't one of the wet T-shirted women as her fur would have got wet!

lucky...I don't think you'll mind me sharing:

The Magic Show

Oh, I always knew the magic
of rainbows in the morning dew,
and necklaces of spider’s web
after a storm,
or the sound that serenades
dreams in cozy flannel winters,
but I always looked with human eyes.

Today,
I  saw the magic in raindrops
through the eyes of my
black feline friend,
with fur bejeweled
in rich display
of natures’ jewels.

She refused to come in
out of the rain,
instead she lounged on table
just outside the window,
mesmerized by raindrops
sliding down a plastic sheet
across the chair and down
onto the patio where a pool
was growing.

Each drop was like a diamond,
a marble of translucent hue,
that teased her paw,
for when she had it
it was gone
and another slid gracefully to
just beyond her reach.

The capture
had her baffled
as she flaunted,
chasing feline prowess
with sideways glance
then pounced with great stealth
upon a myriad of crystal balls
rolling-rolling
down
  down
into a pool of liquid silver.

‘Twas so,
I saw embarrassment
fleeting across whiskers
as she slid with grace undaunted,
like a skate boarder on stairs
that lead into a crash,
hers, the waiting sterling
of a cold splash.

Then with great dignity
she exited the stage
and left me with her caprice
and a smile.

Hi, Lucky...I am thoroughly entertained with such talented story telling and I adored Karen's reply, both of you rambling desciptive vignettes with such humor in retrospection.

There's just no tellin' where you're gonna find love!

I miss the cat we used to have.  Her name was Tootsie because she was the tiniest little gremlin when we got her at two months (husband brought her home in his shirt pocket), no fur on her belly, and you could see skin through the stripes on her back.  Her ringed tail was about as big around as a pencil, but she had huge tufts on her ears. Of course our yellow lab had to check her out. She hissed and spit while puffing up that itty bitty body till every hair stood straight out, laid back her ears and pouncing, stiff-legged, put the fear of God in him with a swipe to his nose.

Toots and my daughter adored each other. No bigger than a mouse, she'd crouch, next to Lee's neck and peek out through the blonde curls as they'd cruise town in an old black Pinto. One of Lee's boyfriends offered to get rid of "that rodent!"  Ooops!  Wrong thing to say!  I always suspected my daughter was feline, too--and not nearly so small as Toots.  With a swipe of her fingernails, she sent him packin'.

Our dog never made it into Tootsie's good graces, but I think Brian did finally got out of the doghouse.     ~~ Karen  (LOL)
