* * * When the hands meet at the top in prayer of apostleship and Cinderella's promises become accrued remittances the legendary midnight kiss is as fragile as the shoe which slipped when Cinderella tripped in hasty flight from truth. Her fear of her unworthiness had been compounded by the years of words and deeds upon her hurled from the only "love" she knew-- corrupt attention in the dust of ashes smeared by sweat and tears mistaken for chaste character as all she'd known had been abuse. I never understood the tale. I pondered the discrepancies-- why, when magick was reversed by the strokes of midnight toll, the carriage was returned to whim of the pumpkin, tragically. Rags replaced the glittering gown that flowed in fluid gold. * Discrepancies--they bother me--they giggle like a child who lies, thinking that "since it could be" no one could prove so otherwise. * There must be something about glass--it must be an anomaly. It must conceal as it reveals, convenient transparency. A simple, single piece of proof, relevant illogically-- but for a happy ending we must pretend we didn't see-- suspension of the disbelief, for surely and most certainly Cinderella had bare feet when she fled the ball. No glass slipper left behind, no prince to search the countryside-- it doesn't matter much to me. this fable's simple fallacy. Her 'sister' stole her legacy, her godmother, her unread rhyme. Paranoia? Not--forsight-- The End. The last-- the clock chimed three. Note the time: the death of we with sixteen minutes on the side. * * * * * * * * * * |

Karen....hi! I would much rather walk bare footed than with some silly glass thing with an impossible heel. Loved this and you! |

gotta squeeze mah sweet Marite first-- Thanks lovie. and M? I'm not sure if this one is going anyplace...I was thinking theme, but not so much fairytales, but more along the lines of questions a child would ask, yanno? (I drove my parents crazy with that stuff--you know, the little things, like, why people in zombie movies just stood there for twenty minutes WAITING for the damned zombie to "get" 'em????) But yep, it was something I was pondering. So I do appreciate your support, I nearly didn't post this because you've got that so beautifully wrapped already. I could type forever on Brother's Grimm too... (egads, eh?) Hans Christian? *criminy* The psychological implications of fairy tales! Seriously though, sheesh. And I should shaddup. I might think I'm in another forum. |

Quirky, cute, and has got me ta thinkin'. I must confess, I truly do have Cinderella's glass slipper! Seriously! I really do! I bought it at her castle in Disney World! As hard as I have tried, I cannot get my friggin' foot in it!!! Guess I'll have to stick to being an 'angel' ~ 'cause I certainly ain't no princess! lol Linda A princess wannabe |

I have read this so many times and still can think of no intelligent response. But, I keep reading it and loving it - I was always the one totally sucked into fairy tales. I found a haven in the more modern versions and a gruesome delight in the traditonal ones. I guess both appealed to the dual sides of my personality. Love this. A |

Thanks all--and I appreciate Belle's patience as I tried my hand at the graphic "pretties"--not quite as stylistic as hers, but I gave it a shot. (*grouse* She could prolly even walk in that shoe!) Thanks for reading, and it was fun to write something new. Love to all. (oooops...gotta credit my sister twist for personal signature, and the pic was from some copyright free site. And nod, my sister is a stickler for credit--but sometimes I get by her. ) *grin* |
