Snow dusted treetops
line the path to Eagles Mere.
Enchantment resides
in every frosted leaf,
honoring Gaia’s
seasonal changes
in resplendent beauty.
Mere human endeavors
(even Taj Majal) pale
by comparison
to nature’s bounteous gifts.
Though no eagles soared
before our eyes today,
a lone hawk resting atop a stately pine
welcomed us to this peaceful paradise.
Our feet ached to wander the lake-shores;
brooding storm clouds draping the hills
warned this was not the day
for a casual stroll.
Reluctantly, we headed down the hill,
again enveloped by Autumn golds and rust
tipped in purest white.
November can be beautiful
beyond words.

this most fine 'impression' captures
the spirit of the place perfectly!

I am especially fond of:

"Snow dusted treetops

honoring Gaia’s
seasonal changes
in resplendent beauty."

serious applause!!

Another glorious splash for the November book I spoke of (in a response to one of Bruce's poems) in which your and Bruce's poems should feature prominently.

November in PA can be so very beautiful if you catch mother nature in all of her glory at just the right time Kacy....Loved this.

And can you scent the sweet and frosty breath of Winter.
Mingling with the scent of pine?
And frosted winter days
brilliant beyond words with Sun,
and blue and frigid winter nights
improbably bright with stars,
in skies where the North Lights may even dance.
I want to go flying with eagles.

It is such fun to read and re-read this poem and Bruce's, a visit in two voices, a poetry duet. Images and moments sublimely captured, to be treasured forever. Thank you for inviting readers along on your journey to this very special place.

Kacy, I have missed the autumn for 20 years until this year and I have been so lucky to travel to both Ohio and Missouri and caught the colors in both States....my timining could not have been better!  Love your landscape here and the picture through the eagle's eye!  (I saw a hawk today, too, btw!)   ....jo
