WWI Canadian soldier Thomas Stewart
Died in Flander’s Field, Belgium, in 1916

Blowing In the Wind
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

In dismal gray of rainy day,
a poppy-pinned lapel,
Reminds us all of Flanders Fields,
where lie the brave that fell.

A time for us to honour,
all those who fought and died.
Their loss was mourned by families,
as their nation’s peoples cried.

A war is so destructive,
~ No side can truly win.
Tears fall down from heaven,
as flags blow in the wind.

“The time has come for Man to lay down
his arms, and pick up each other.”
~ Linda L. Dowd

An appropriate poem that must be read out to allow voice viabration to let the message transcend the 'barrier'.

Interesting additionof speach and music to your recent works, though I personally love the power of the written word as a medium I have known a couple of stand up poets who are amazing.  I wonder if you are heading in this direction, do you attend poetry sessions of this nature?

Turn the speach up a bit, your voice is the better music!

Great poetry as always....

Ivor

PS
Have you read, 'Death on the Battlefield'  a paragraph in Lord Dowdings book on Spiritulism?

Obviously a timely and appropriate 'write!'

[at least in the past, some wars were likely
  absolutely necessary/unavoidable and
  justified!...instead of just 'invented' to
satisfy the relentless ego and private intent
of major politicians who are (in simultaneity)
  incredibly minuscule statesmen and human
  beings!]

Applause!

Ivor ~

Thank you. I appreciate that tip about the music over-powering my voice. It is such a difficult balance for me to make but I appreciate feed-back.

Yes, I do belong to a poetry group and we have an open mike once a month. I also recite my poetry at community gatherings, functions, and a host of other events. It is one of my favourite things to do! ~ and I have a captive audience! They wouldn't dare get up and leave! lol

Thanks for your thought-full response!

Lindsay ~

Your father is one to whom we owe our thanks. What a blessing that he did not die from his wounds.

Thank you for sharing and I am pleased that my poem was able to touch you.

Yes, I do agree with you. Thanks for reading and leaving your thoughts.

Wars are reflections of the 'societies' that wage them. Times, peoples ~ and wars, change.

"A time for us to honour,
all those who fought and died."

A warm tribute to those who really care for freedom and liberty, care enough to put their lives on the line to protect and to serve even to death.

JL ~

Exactomondo, Tex Man! I honour those who died and those who continue to put their lives on the line for their country.

My heart breaks in two, whenever our nation's flag is flown at half mast...

Love, Harmony, and World Peace,

Linda

Oh, dear Linda Angelo Terrestre, you touch the core with these impactful words.

Every day is a good day to remember and to learn from the past, to step into awareness and to begin to change what needs to be changed.

Thank you for this compassionate and wise write.

Love and hugs.

My dear Margherita,

"Every day is a good day to remember and to learn from the past, to step into awareness and to begin to change what needs to be changed."

~ Now THAT is what I would call "compassionate and wise."

Light, Harmony, & World Peace,

With love,

Angelo Terrestre

Ida ~

Thank you, however, I give so little for those who gave so much.
