"Broken People" Shattered dreams make up the stuff of life Our modern world, so full of stress and strife Within the hectic confines of this place, We struggle everyday to just keep pace And when we pray we’ve finally pulled ahead, Right down another twisted path we’re led By forces overpowering who feel We still have something left for them to steal Mankind, a broken people to be sure Who always take the bait and chase the lure Free will is overrated, many think As they spend their final dollar on a drink And happiness is found, some people brag, In dirty needles or in plastic bags This empty promise drags so many down Into the Sea of Lies, in which they drown With spirits bruised, so wearily we pray For just a sign to guide us through these days But precious few will ever truly find A destiny that isn’t poison-lined AMdG 11/7/2007 "My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night; but ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--it gives a lovely light!" -Edna St. Vincent Millay |

I really liked this poem. I am trying to deal with having to be away from my wife and two girls because, among other things, she is drifting on that sea of lies now. Great poem. |

I believe that some when they are broken are being called to a higher level...for example...the situation with Dog the bounty hunter...with his big mouth he has placed himself in a delimma in which it seems that everything is lost...still I believe that the way he responds to his situation will either leave him a broken man or make a better man of him...and if he makes the right choices, he will be allright, even if his A & E show is permanantly canceled...James |
