lady tree of mosey town

you were christmas tree handsome
that july noon in parking lot garland
a lady tree with tan candy apples

pretty bows were missing here and there
from your nearly perfect package
you had gift wrapped some with pleasure

and your own special kind of unwrapping
just because you could let a little show
without anyone guessing the rest

I didn't know I was shopping then
for something fragile to break open
and get all over the skin of myself

but you backed up your love box jitney
to give me room in your aisle
then plugged the exit with a moment

and told me the sales were all over
but that was a good thing really
as you were the only one left

in off the rack climbing size fine
