When November reigns,
subdued sunlight dances
in empty rooms
across wooden floors,
casting muted amber dreams
of Autumn’s demise.
I revel in November rain,
while secretly seeking snow,
anxiously awaiting
winter’s crisp silent descent
on a star strewn ebony night.
My mind’s eye twinkles,
envisioning a snow hare’s
transition from brown to white,
faithfully believing
this proverbial security blanket
will protect him.
I need to walk in sparkling moonlit snow,
for it quickens the step and heartbeat,
renews both body and soul.
I love November rains,
but dream of December's snow.

another fine 'write' from this talented author!

I am particularly fond of:

"When November reigns,
subdued sunlight dances
in empty rooms
across wooden floors,
casting muted amber dreams
of Autumn’s demise."

[the above has a powerful effect on me
similar to an Edward Hopper painting!]

a MUCH more 'optimistic' perspective
on November than I possess!

serious, sustained applause!!

There have been many snows
and many rabbits . . .
Thank you for reminding me
of the smiles that came with them.

Enjoyed this.

It will be coming soon enough, and I, too love the crispness and snow of winter.

I agree that snow is beautiful! But, since I have to drive out in it, I could do without it. I don't like the cold at all.

This write is truly magnificent. I'm going to print it out and put it in my office so I can re-read it in advance of the snows that I know will come. Greatly enjoyed!!

We don't have snow here in Calif. unless we go to the mountain, but when I was a child we lived where it snowed and I loved playing in the snow. Your beautiful poem brought back memories.

I came back for another 'official' comment on this fine 'write!'...
it turned out (unexpectedly) to be the 'inspiration' for my
"Winter Redemption" penning tonight...

continuing applause for said 'inspiration!'

How utterly lovely this anticipation of moonlight magic on a winter's wonderland.  It's been years since I've seen snow, but I'm still enchanted at the memory and the way sounds of heartbeats and laughter fly over white stillness.  ~ KL
