             Understanding

Most folk are blessed with different traits
Which help them settle most disputes,
But the ability to understand
Is high among our attributes.

To see beyond what’s plain to see
With our daily problems expanding,
To have the knowledge and ability
To reach an understanding.

A soothing word to a crying child
Or a kiss, as circumstance demand,
A sympathetic ear to show we care
And the fact we understand.

Strength to overcome our daily woes
That should always be our theme,
For our ability to understand
Is an attribute supreme.

One’s compassion to shed a timely tear
When bereavement brings distress,
Then a kindly word, a helping hand
Our understanding to express.

The weight of years extend our need
Of a willingness to lend a hand,
I’m sure an epitaph we’d like to see.
Is that we were quick to understand.

Oh, for a perfect world!  If we used our minds more instead of our eyes we would all understand.

Compassion from the heart, understanding from the mind, and from the hands a healing touch of both of them combined.

Good thoughts into words, Lindsay!

Such a wonderful compassionate write, dear Lindsay.

If we could only learn to listen better, we would be able to bring healing on many levels.

Love,

To be truly compassionate, one has to care enough to be observant and to be "understanding".

Wise words from a wise man ~ and poet.

Loving hug,

Linda
P.S. I will let you know when your book arrives! I eagerly await its arrival!
