      A MOTHER’S HALL OF FAME

As we traverse the paths of life
We read of those with a famous name,
For athletes, singers and others too
They create a hall of fame.

To me the mothers of this world
Are often heroes left unsung,
For with the elite and all the great,
They should all be up there among.

It seems to me and I’m sure you’ll agree,
They were there before the others came,
A tribute ‘twould be for all to see,
A Mothers Hall of Fame.

My Mother to the hall of fame
I  would like to nominate,
For to my brother and to me ,
She should be up there among the great.

You may think that I am biased
But I’m sure she was by an Angel sent,
For in over fifty years I never knew
Mum and Dad to have an argument.

Our home was always a happy place
As all visitors there could see,
And no one ever stepped inside
And left without a cup of tea.

“ Don't come to me, I cannot help”
Were words my Mother never knew,
For her helping hand and friendly smile
Always saw us safely through.

She was always happy with her lot,
She was not one to complain,
Through all the good times and the bad,
To herself she kept her pain.

She never went to sleep at night
Till we had both come home,
For our safety was her constant care,
From when we first commenced to roam.

Through the years of good times & tears
We’d always find her waiting there,
She saw to it that she done her bit
And far more than her fair share.

If in her armour she has a chink,
One that she'll keep to the winning post,
It's not that she was slow to care
But that she worried more than most.

Now when I think of my dear old mother
And may God forever bless her name,
To me she will ever stand the highest
In that mother's hall of fame.

Your mother sounds like a terrific woman but to be honest I think we are all biased.  So if I may humbly request I would like to put my mother up for consideration in the `Mother`s Hall of Fame`.
