PICTURES FROM THE PAST

I stand again at lovers leap
With a heart that’s beating fast,
And in my mind the memories creep
And I see pictures from the past.

I see again a maiden fair
With hair of auburn hue,
And I tongue tied can only stare
With thoughts of I love you.

I loved the ground on which she trod
With her figure fair and trim,
While in my prayers I prayed to God,
Though I thought my chances then were slim.

But perseverance paved the path
Though faint the heart may be,
And looking back in aftermath
Future plans were plain to see.

Looking back on life’s display
For the dye has long been cast,
That girl is still as fair today
As in those pictures from the past.

Picture perfect! I have a suspicion that the reason that she is still as fair today as she was back then, is because she is loved and adored by a man like you.

I was taken with this piece because I married a girl that I met in college. And even after all these years I still love her the same.
