Honour Thy Earth Mother
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

By a slow, lazy river, lined with cottonwood trees,
a symphony was carried by a warm, southern breeze.
Leaves shimmering, whispering, in the summering light,
~ Joined musical waters and singsongs of bobwhite.

As I lay on sweet grasses, a pulse thrummed in the ground.
~ The vibrations sent through me, did amaze and astound.
For I knew that Earth’s spirit was speaking to me,
of the reckless abandon, throughout Man’s history.

The polluting of Nature, ~ the skies, land, and seas,
~ would bring increasing wind storms ~ floods, droughts, and dis-ease.
There were Universal laws based on ‘cause and effect’,
and the downfall of Man would come from his lack of respect.

Visions of devastation began to reel through my mind,
There was neither fauna nor flora ~ or trace of mankind.
A monochrome world without rainbows or color,
as in the aftermath of war ~ but even bleaker and duller.

The planet was barren, for all species had died,
~ Scourges and pestilence claimed life forms world wide.
Vegetation had vanished from our native home berth,
due to Man’s endless taking from our Mother Earth.

~ A desolate planet with neither colour nor sound.
All waters had dried up and no life could be found.
As stark images continued, tears were stinging my eyes,
for I knew without change, would come our subsequent demise.

I perished at the thought of where we were heading,
and knew that these visions, I should be spreading.
The time was past due for ending the insanity,
and for saving the planet and all of humanity.

All taken from Nature, should forthwith be returned.
~ This balancing of energies, must now be relearned.
Honour thy Earth Mother. Show Her love and respect.
Give your undivided attention. ~ Not thoughtless neglect.

~*~
The Harmonic Convergence of nineteen eighty-seven
rained spiritual blessings from high up in heaven
The restoration of our planet and unification of souls,
began with the conjunction of cosmic trine it extols.
~*~

By a slow, lazy river, lined with cottonwood trees,
a symphony was carried by a warm, southern breeze.
Leaves shimmering, whispering, in the summering light,
~ Joined musical waters and singsongs of bobwhite.

“We are borne of star dust,
and to the stars we shall one day return.”

I would like to buy your book of poetry for my girls, when this one is in it.  Wise words, and although so many to think about and heed, something tells me we are just too late sadly.

(wipes gentle tear) When I first saw the animated film "Ferngully: The Last rainforest" when I was a little boy, that's when I knew wholeheartedly I had that "undivided attention" naturally in adhering to the Harmonic Convergence and leading a life being mindful about Mother Earth and our environment! (sigh) And I absolutely believe, just as with the faeries in the movie who, with both faith, wisdom and courage blossomed as a community, nurtured the seed and stopped the oily Hexxus from further ravaging their fairy glen, that if we all do our part and run mindful of Edith Hamilton's notion that belief is passive but faith is active, and be active, alert spirits together in turning back to nature, our Earth Mother will once again be honored righteously! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Magnus ~

Hi, Barry ~ and happy 4th!

This poem was a humdinger to write and it will most likely have to be rewritten. I had a dickens of a time trying to get it to flow smoothly. Oh, well, I believe I did manage to get my "visions" across. lol

Hello Dear Friend,
I must agree with those before me on this.
Your words speak of many things.

Happy 4th.

FunnyBones ~

Howdy, FB! I think we all need a "reminder" every now and again! Mother Earth has not been very happy with us!

If we each play our part, we can move mountains!

paullallady ~

Yes, if mankind carries on as is, the outcome could be very "scary", indeed!

But I believe that we can save the planet ~ and ourselves!

.

“the great tomb of man”

William Cullen Bryant

Until, historically, only recently Mother Earth
was a cruel parent with an incredible ingenuity
for killing her children.   The greatest
threat to her today is hygiene and related medical
science which allows so many of those
children now to survive and have children of their own.

Still, if you’re thinking of wandering
in the wilderness and communing with Mother Earth
make sure you’re up on your shots first.

Curious! I would never have thought of Mother Earth as being the "great tomb of man".

Interesting quote! lol
