THE GARDEN AND THE GARDENER
I harvest what is in my mind
I seed and then a crop I find
Forgetting what was left behind
For colour fills my day

A desert that was once so bare
Before I found my flowers there
Does grant me all I have to share
And give along the way

Swaying with the breeze of thought
Where once I found the questions fought
And where my ponder often sought
I frolic now and play

Within there’s peace and rockery
Beauty once I could not see
A hiding place made just for me
Where now I go each day

A scenery of inner eye
A well where sadness once could cry
A chest that holds all days gone by
And where I love to stay

So here I garden in my mind
Relax and then my visions find
Forgetting all I left behind
And loving everyday

Excellent poem Rick.  It just flowed SO nicely.  It reminds me of my poem "The Hopeful Gardener".  Very well thought out, and put together.  Once again, excellent work Rick.

Well actually Rick, I posted it on this forum already, but rather than having you look for it, I'll make it easier for you and post it right here.

"The Hopeful Gardener"

One seed, one chance,
one life that he holds.
His eyes shiver although,
it's a hot summer day.
Each swallow is sharp,
and stabs the back of his throat,
with memories of despair.
Each step he takes brings him higher
on a ladder of uncertainty.

He's nervous, and enthusiastic,
sweat glands dance in his palm.
The salty secretion, and dirt stained crevices,
create a crude sand. Along with sea shores
of anxiety in each of his hands.

Does he compress his fists firmly,
to show his affection towards the unborn green plant?
Perhaps he can not go through with it no longer,
and wishes to terminate all the possibilities cocooned in his head,
that have been waiting to spread out it's wings of reality.
But his dreams seem to stay buried,
just as his prior attempts to a garden.

Is his green thumb nothing but gangrene,
that has only been spreading to his attempts
for success?

No, he will not be at the mercy of failure.
So in one last desperate attempt,
he hesitantly reaches for his pick.

Peace. Love. Forgiveness.

Gifted, this is indeed a great poem you have shown me, I did like this line.

Is his green thumb nothing but gangrene?

How many gardeners must feel this way once or twice. Thank you for sharing this, enjoyed.

This is the absolute truth. I remember reading a poem of yours a while back in which you eloquently discussed "The Secret."  This is a beautiful reminder of the Laws of Attraction...what we think about does manifest.
