She cried and cried, tears ever flowing now red eyes on damp pillow,
She tried and tried, never knowing, yet soft sighs were in shadow,
He watched her tears, ever alone grew slight cracks in a heart of stone.

The sijo is a short Korean poetic form of three lines of a total of 14 to 16 syllables in for section of 2 to 7 syllables each.
The flow of the poem has a natural pause after the second section of the line and a break at the end of the line and the final line either gives humor or resolution to the subject.  Because of the pause and breaks it is at times broken into six lines.

She cried and cried, tears ever flowing
Now red eyes on damp pillow,
She tried and tried, never knowing,
Yet soft sighs were in shadow,
He watched her tears, ever alone
Grew slight cracks in a heart of stone.

fine example of this poetic form...

personally, I like it better in the 6-line
format.

Applause!!

Pleased you enjoyed,
I tend to agree with the you and have a greater fondness for the 6 line style

I enjoyed this thoroughly... well done! *S*

And... cast another vote for the 6 line format. *S*
