Distant are the sounds
in these empty spaces
that were once filled
with the songs
of our souls

   mere echoes now
         of what was

I tilt my head,
listen through the stillness
to find just one strain;
one note
still afloat

in hollowed caverns.

It is silent now.

Love's symphony once played there

in melody so pure
every chord
was beautifully orchestrated

a perfect harmony
of two hearts joined
in passionate rhapsody.

A lullaby
so moving
it would bring me
to tears

  and still I cry
       through the passing years

for a song, now faded
from memory

with a prayer
for one more dance

between you and me.

No more lookin' over my shoulder
No more hangin' on to the past
No more filling up my tomorrows
With yesterday's sorrows
No more lookin' over my shoulder

Oh my ... just lovely GentleSpirit. Beautiful phrasing throughout ... I could almost "hear" the echoes through the cavern. Really wonderful.

Best wishes,
/Kit

"Distant are the sounds

with the songs
of our souls"

The song of our souls...
I can hear it now.
It was done by The Carpenters:
"We've Only Just Begun"
Beautiful!

I really liked this one. The "Hollowed Caverns" topic just works and the theme flows beautifully through the piece.
