The best fathers day I had
Nine months before your birth
It cost me dear till you left home
I’ll admit…For what it’s worth
I got more fun from your toys
Than you will ever know
Of course I had to choose them
You were far too slow

You did much what I wanted
Your mum had tried her best
She did all the housework
We did all the rest
Those bike rides made you stronger
Fresh air and all the fun
Each ride got longer and longer
Till your little legs were done

My shoulders still are broad enough
To take credit for your life
Remember that yer other half
"THE BOSS" Is just a wife
I didn’t help you choose her
(I bet you wished I had)
Relax and think of better times
When your were just My Lad
