After All These Years (daddy day )

You were the he I loved all of my life
helping me carry my burdens and strife.
I can still hear you, the stories you'd tell,
oh how I recall the day that you fell.

I remember how you kept me warm,
how I always felt safe from harm.
Now your light shines down on me
as you soar, your spirit is free.

I can't help but brush aside a tear or two
I remember the little things you would always do.
I can hear you say "You should have listened to me."
You were right, but I didn't always want to see.

I only wish you could see me now
Lord knows I wish there were someway, somehow.
I can only pray that you would be proud
as you watched from there upon your cloud.

The years have passed, and I miss you today
but I'm not sad, for you've found your way,
so I promise you now Dad, we have a date

I'll see you again.....
at heavens gate.

Holding you closely in my heart
now and always Dad, I love you...

This was a beautiful tribute to your dad. I can so relate. Mine's been gone almost 24 years (next month) and I will always miss him. But I too have a date on the day I go home, I know he will be one of the first people to greet me there. Hugs, Dee

GS - This is a beautiful tribute to your dad. I believe he is watching and no doubt sticking his chest out like a proud father would.
