. It wasn’t enough Was it . . . In the end All those honors Parades men and women Children waving flags Couldn’t fill the vacuum Yet in the whole Life goes on After the gaudy bands Have all gone home And when on leaving Still no one’s there To hold one’s hand And heart that is The quiet wealth of love There’s only then Despair . |

Dear John, You have a way with words or without words to touch one's heart. This poem made me cry. A heart tortured by love, blood, hatred and death, and perhaps in a wounded body. After all the sound of loudness, being alone in silence was the time for a loud crying of soul. beautiful poem but too heavy to bear... |
