            Questions and Answers!

When yesterday’s smoke
lies frozen in the gutters
beneath a ragged evening mist,
I walk where stillness
saturates the night
with eternal ‘questions’...
[like “why am I?” or “what could
   really ‘matter’?”]
measuring ‘human time’ between
   ever-redundant disasters,
in an infinite universe
of warring constellations...
[perhaps devoid of all ‘heart’
   and ‘reason’?]
until the shadows drain again
   from field and forest,
as a dazzling sunburst
shakes the dawn to consciousness
stirring wind-fountain clouds to dance,
over singing streams and golden rivers
dropping through these scattered hills forever...
   to the timeless sea;
and these are Nature’s lucent ‘answers’...
   to my night-born darkest doubts!

Very philosophically challenging!  I wonder some of these myself (quite a lot!)
Excellent!
Thanks for sharing!

very beautiful poem and with very deep thought.

"and these are Nature’s lucent ‘answers’...
   to my night-born darkest doubts!"...sad.

enjoyed as always.

There it is again, Bruce, that Bach Cello Suite # 1 in G Major. Re-reading and re-reading this poem, its format feels familiar.

The movements in your poem and those of this musical work appear to be in tandem, including that pause and twist (contraposto) in the center,

   “until the shadows drain again
      from field and forest,
    as a dazzling sunburst”

then the rise to the end.

Beautiful!!
