The rhythm pulses through the crowd
like a heartbeat,
pumping precious life into the previously pedestrian,
turning them into those born of music.
Skirts and dresses sway in the current of the immobile air
and bodies do the same.
Though not very upbeat, the intensity is enough
to appease the beast inside.
The air of the small room is charged with emotion
that vibrates hypnotically around the occupants of the floor.
The trumpet sings softly a tale of lovers
while the sax supplies the melodious story of their tragedy.
The bass reminds the listeners that beneath the madness,
life still goes on
and the drums voice the cadences of life in their memories.
Outside, the rain pours
and people call out in their dreams.
The world is uneasy.
But the hearts of those inside are content
for they are partaking in the sweet medicine
of the Jazz that fill their souls.

What a fantastic scene you created in my mind.  I was taken down south and enjoyed the visit I might add.  Very nicely done.
