         ORPHAN

How can I share just what transpires,
trying to pull words from the mire.
A thought, a feeling, setting a scene,
working to tell you just what I mean.

Thinking of words and counting the beats,
reach for the place thoughts and paper meet.
Pacing the floor and tapping the pen,
erase it all and trying again.

There comes a point that all writers know,
when they start feeling that special glow.
All my thoughts and words flow oh so right,
it is a feeling of such delight.

I did give birth to this creation,
born out of soulful desperation.
But now I can turn and walk away,
having said what I needed to say.

I take this poem and fling it aside,
with a piece of my own soul inside.
Take this orphan poem and make it yours.
I gave it wings, time to let it soar.

And soar it does! The rhythm is fantastic and truth is felt.

~ The perfect ending to a perfectly love-ly poem!!!
