Lore of the Pirate Girl

Scarves wrapped and tied about her head
Hands firmly placed upon belted hips
“ARRRGH, I am a pirate,” she softly growled
And this chair is now my pirate ship!”

A toddler child stood strong and tall
Eyes slashed like shards of ice blue
Confident in the face of deep waters
She struck terror in all that she knew

I shook in my breeches of scarlet red
She brandished a rapier at the plank
Fear chilled my bones and salted skin
As I gazed at the boat she just sank

Round tummy pushed out over her sash
Few pirates created such a horrific sight
This one was the most frightening of all
Pillaging treasure under the dim moonlight

Her sharpened sword held high over head
She accessed the pirate booty and loot
Eyes gazed upon gold, silks and perfumes
Encased in rubber swashbuckling boots

Imagination took hold of the story and soared
The game played from chapter one to the end
She’ll be back to raid more ships tomorrow
On this little pirate girl I can depend

Alison

Thank you all ... laughs ... nope it's not me.  I am the one on the plank!  She doesn't see many movies and think the Pirates of the Carribean series are not on her allowed list.  Honestly, I think the idea was spawned from a (gasp!!) book.

Where in the world did she see a book!!!!

I miss the days when my children were small and days were spent involved in their fantasies...enjoy them while they're young

Thank you, thank you.

I love this little girl and keep working on the poem before I give it to her parents.  So, I changed it a bit.

And James?  Not for 16 years or so ... (laughs) .. she is only 2 and a half.
