in the shadows

Gods help me!
I've been drinking
and it's surely been a while,
don't you know
it started out a celebration,
an offshore wind of gentle blow,
some champagne
to recognize the style inherent in survival
and the cunning power
of the lies within our eyes,
how fitting that my Bacchus,
old friend and pal of mine,
would show up to remind me
of the days of song and wine
when excess was a benchmark packed away
and left behind
for those who lack the courage to call down the new moon,
what a joy
to revel in the pleasures of the flesh;
I just hope my mind returns
and that I stop this shaking soon.

I remember a time like that, myself. I sure understand where you are coming from. I hope you are able to stop, soon.

Mr. C., try as I might, I can't help reading politics into this....with Queen E's recent visit and the white colar dinner and all.  (I'd be shaking too if I were GW...*sad smile*)  Sorry if I've taken everything out of context...just can't help myself.  *grins*....jo

PS:  That is one powerful hangover that even the moonbeams hurt!

*smile*

New wine poured into old skin
as if I could begin again!
Laughing madly under moon
a drunk, a witch, a damned monsoon
barefoot dancing crumpling
fallen leaves to soot, cringing
and I whisper to the skies
I'll come home before I die--
as solemn oath proclaiming this
I leave you with the five-fold kiss~

inglorious and glory is
armeggedon before bliss:

I think I met you there.

(I found this downright inspirational. Um, obviously? )
